Denmark.dk Denmark’s largest industrial group Danfoss unveiled a solar-powered refrigerator/vaccine cooler at the UN summit in Johannesburg.
The product contains a solar-powered compressor and will be marketed under the name Solar/Greenfreeze.
Several public and private agencies were involved in the development and promotion of the project.
The cooler was specifically designed for storing medicine at refrigerated temperatures in areas of the world without electricity. It can also be used as a normal refrigerator.
The unit can also run on wind, diesel or electrical power. Due to a special insulation technique, the refrigerator can maintain a constant temperature for five days without any external source of energy.  ¶ 9/18/2002 09:14:00 AM
