Copenhagen Post: EU vs.DK

The government is fighting a battle with the EU for the right to slash development aid. During a series of meetings this week in Brussels, EU Chairman Josep Pique proclaimed that a majority of EU countries have agreed on a compromise saying that no country, including those that contribute more than the UN’s target of 0.7%, should be allowed to cut foreign aid. However, Denmark, Sweden, Holland and Luxembourg are all in agreement that pressure should be applied to those countries that don’t live up to the UN’s 0.7% requirement.
